Dr. Joyce Chumbley, researcher, writer, activist, and co-editor (with Leo Zonneveld) of Thomas Paine: In Search of the Common Good, at the John Lennon Imagine Memorial near Strawberry Fields in Central Park, New York, NY, paying tribute to our peace heroes. She visited this sacred site, timing her visit to coincide with the exact moment of death of Thomas Paine 200 years ago.

Dr. Joyce Chumbley at the newly-planted Liberty Tree dedicated to Thomas Paine, at Foley Square. The Humanist Society of Metropolitan New York was instrumental in obtaining the cooperation of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation in planting the tree specially for this occasion. The Liberty Tree is symbolic of the people's right to gather in protest of tyranny.
